Where We Stand

The Words Stay Yours

In recent years AI has become both a plague and a boon.

It can summarize a paper or organize spreadsheets, but it's also used to spawn a horde of slop reels and to destroy creativity. It upsets me to see authors being exposed for using AI to write their book, or ghostwriting platforms advertising themselves on my social media pages.

QuilLab is not that.

It's not here to replace you as an artist.

There's a reason this is “Built by Authors for Authors.” It's because QuilLab takes what's good about AI and combines it with a suite of programmatic tools to help your art.

Why not use AI to find out where in your manuscript you described a certain family heirloom or fictional creature, then update your wiki notes about it to be accurate with the text, complete with linked citations? All with only, at most, offering spelling or grammar corrections on your actual manuscript.

And there's the controversy around training AI off another's work without their permission.

QuilLab does not train any AI off of your manuscript, wiki, or anything you input.

We use specific providers in order to ensure that your brainchild will not be consumed by the machine and used to write somebody else's slop story.

So keep writing, wherever you choose to do so. Enjoy it. It's an art, not a task to get done. Don't replace yourself either in your profession or your hobbies, make yourself irreplaceable in both. Please don't compromise your artistic integrity by pretending a machine's work is your own. Be the artist. It's the hard path, but when has anything trivial been worth celebrating?
